About this place
For charcoal-grilled chicken, Kuroiwa Tsuchi-dori from Kuroiwa Farm in Miyazaki is a tempting place to start. Diners who have tried it report that its smoky aroma, savoury flavour that deepens with each bite and satisfying texture made an impression; some enjoyed it with yuzu pepper. It is listed as a limited-quantity dish, so it is worth trying if available. Another charcoal-grilled option is Sanuki Himekko, a mature chicken sent directly from Kagawa Prefecture. It is known for its distinctive texture and robust flavour, and seasoned with garlic and black pepper. Choosing between the grilled jidori and mature chicken offers two distinct experiences. The chicken skin with ponzu is made by charring Sanuki Himekko skin over charcoal and marinating it in ponzu for a day.
There are also dishes to break up a chicken-focused meal. The assorted tomatoes with ravigote sauce were described as refreshing and a good fit between bites of charcoal-grilled chicken, making them an easy choice when you want a change of flavour. The dashi-scented shirasu omelette is made with whitebait from Kashima-nada. One diner described its soft texture, the saltiness of the shirasu and savoury dashi, and enjoyed its creamy centre. For fried dishes, choices include boneless chicken thigh, chicken tenderloin, chicken neck and live octopus. One report praised the boneless thigh karaage for its crisp coating, juicy meat and assertive seasoning that went well with drinks—a good choice when you want another chicken dish.
You can order individual dishes to suit different tastes, or choose a set course with all-you-can-drink to shape the meal. The 5,000-yen “Iitoko-dori Course” moves from chicken skin with ponzu and boneless chicken thigh karaage to charcoal-grilled jidori and clam porridge. It suits a gathering centred on chicken. Another course, priced at 6,000 yen, also includes dishes such as Hitachi no Kagayaki pork shabu-shabu with green onion, steamed clams with sake, shirasu with grated daikon, and porridge with grilled rice balls. Both courses include 2 hours of all-you-can-drink, including draft beer; the course information states that the drink period is 120 minutes, with last orders taken 90 minutes beforehand. Some visitors felt there were not many seats, so consider booking for a group meal.
